If you are a national (possess a passport) from one of the EU/EEA countries listed below then you do not require a visa to Ireland. These countries include:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
If you are from any other country that is not on the list above, then you do need to obtain an Irish visa before travelling to the State. However, there are some exceptions, please contact this office for a consultation if you require further clarification on this matter.

If you desire to come to Ireland and want to stay longer than 3 months, provided you have a family member who is an Irish citizen and they are lawfully resident in the state, you can apply for a long stay (join family) visa.
A short stay tourist visa grants you the right to travel to Ireland for tourism reasons or for study reasons for up to 90 days.
You originate or come from a country that under Irish law requires that you have secured a visa and you wish to visit your family or your friends for a period less than 3 months.
In order to be eligible to work in Ireland a non EEA National, unless they are exempt, is required to obtain a valid Employment Permit.There are a number of different employment permits issued by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation (DBEI) , which include Critical Skills Employment Permits and Work Permits. The correct visa type for a holder of any employment permit is issued by the DBEI. You are eligible to apply for one of these visas up to 3 months before you intend to travel to Ireland. If you are visiting another state prior to travelling to Ireland, you must have the relevant visa for that state in your passport before applying for an Irish visa.
